Lakers Assist in Salvation Army Bell Ringing

Student-Athletes at Finger Lakes Community College took time out of their busy schedules to volunteer for the Salvation Army this week.  The Lakers have donated their time to this worthy cause on Monday and Tuesday and will continue through Wednesday.

In an event sponsored by the Student-Athlete Advisory Board, the Lakers joined with the 2015 Red Kettle Campaign, ringing bells outside of the Wal-Mart in Canandaigua.  This marks the second consecutive year that Student-Athletes from Finger Lakes have taken part in the annual bell ringing while helping the Salvation Army in "Doing The Most Good".

Having a positive impact on the community is a part of the Finger Lakes Community College Athletic Department Mission Statement. "Our program strives to instill the values of leadership and citizenship" to all Student-Athletes at the college.

The Finger Lakes Community College Student-Athlete Advisory Board (SAAB) is made up of student-athlete representatives, and is a vehicle to promote communication between the athletic administration and student-athletes. The Student-Athlete Advisory Board serves in an advisory capacity to the Athletic Department, providing a student-athlete voice within the department, discussing issues and concerns, and providing feedback as necessary. Each member serves as a liaison between the committee and his or her team.
