Baseball Loses at Erie

WILLIAMSVILLE, NY -- The Finger Lakes Baseball team got swept by Erie Community College on Thursday by the scores of 7-1 and 8-1.

Finger Lakes falls to 5-5 on the season in Region III play and are 12-14 overall. The Kats improve to 7-1 in the region. Finger Lakes will be back on the road this Saturday as they start their weekend series with Niagara County Community College.

Trailing 6-0, Ryan Juergens singled home Max Franzone in the fourth inning for the Lakers only run. Franzone reached on a single and stole second base. Cole Tracy, Mark Davis, and Cam Heasley also had hits in the game for the Lakers. Sam McCumiskey (3-1) took the loss on the mound. He recorded four strikeouts in his 2.2 innings of work.

Seven of the nine Laker starters recorded a hit in Game 2. Marc Peterson delivered a pinch-hit RBI single in the sixth inning to provide Finger Lakes with its only run, scoring Cole Tracy. Tracy doubled to get into scoring position. Isaiah Merced also doubled earlier in the game.
