Lakers Baseball Splits Four Game Series with OCC

The Finger Lakes Community College baseball team split with Onondaga Community College in a four games series this past weekend.  The Lakers are now 5-3 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference and 22-9 overall.

The Lakers began the series at OCC in a double header on Saturday, April 16.  Finger Lakes dropped both games to the Lazers by one point apiece. The Lakers fell in game one 6-5 in ten innings.  Cole Dubois pitched five innings for the Lakers allowing only nine hits and three earned runs while striking out 4 batters.  Make Magnanti and James Mitchell had three hits apiece.  Jon Warner, Cole Tracy and JT Angora finished 2-for-4 in game one.

The Lakers dropped game two against the Lazers by a score of 5-4.  Bryce MacClurg got the start for the Lakers on the mound, striking out three batters while allowing only five hits.  Issaiah Merced led the Lakers with two hits against the Lazers.

The Lakers finished out the series at home on Sunday, April 17.  Finger Lakes took game three by a score of 7-6 after scoring five runs in the bottom of the seventh inning.  Reston Pettit started for the Lakers on the mound.  Pettit pitched six innings striking out seven batters.  Jon Warner, Cole Tracy, and JT Angora finished with two hits apiece.  Warner added three RBI's for the Lakers. 

Finger Lakes defeated the Lazers in the final game of the series 8-6.  James Mitchell finished 3-for-4 with two homeruns and a double.  Mitchell also had four RBI's.  Mike Magnanti and Danny Goodbread had two hits and two runs scored apiece.  Michael Donofrio pitched five innings for the Lakers, striking out six batters.

The Lakers will begin their four game series with Monroe Community College on Tuesday, April 19, when they travel to MCC for a double header.  They will finish their series against the Tribunes at home on Thursday, April 21, in a double header starting at 2PM.
