Lakers Baseball Drops two at MCC

The Finger Lakes Community College baseball team was swept by the Tribunes from Monroe Community College on Tuesday, April 19, in a double header matchup.  With the losses, the Lakers drop to 22-11 overall on the season.

The Lakers dropped game one to the Tribunes in six inings by a final score of 16-6.  The Tribunes went up early, scoring one run in the bottom of the first inning.  The Lakers answered back in the third, scoring three runs after James Mitchell double to score two followed by Cole Tracy doubling to score Mitchell.

The Tribunes scored an additional eleven runs in the following two innings.   The Lakers scored three in the top of the seventh inning, after Caden Giroux hit a double sending two runners home and Austin Teets hit a sacrifice fly to send in Giroux.  The Tribunes then scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh to close out game one.

James Mitchell and Caden Giroux finished with one hit and two RBI's apiece.  Cole Tracy had one hit and one RBI for the Lakers.

 The Lakers fell in game two by a final score of 3-2 against the Tribunes.  The game was tied after the first inning with both teams scoring one run apiece.  The Tribunes pulled ahead by scoring one run in both the second and fourth inning. The Lakers would score one run in the seventh but were denied victory by the Tribunes defensive play.

Caden Giroux finished with two hits for the Lakers.  Mike Magnanti and Danny Goodbread had one hit and one run score apiece.  JT Angora and Cole Tracy finished with one RBI each. Noah Gorton pitched a complete game for the Lakers, striking out five batters while allowing only seven hits and two earned runs.

The Lakers will finish out their four game series with the Tribunes on Thursday, April 21, in a double header beginning at 2PM.  Following Thursdays double header, the Lakers will begin their four game series with Broome community College in a Mid-State Athletic Conference matchup beginning on Saturday.
