Lakers Baseball Sweeps Hornets

Canandaigua, NY -- The Finger Lakes Community College baseball team swept the Hornets from Broome Community College in a four games series taking place this past weekend.  With the sweep, the Lakers improve their record to 9-3 in the MSAC and 27-12 overall.

The Lakers began their series with Broome CC in a double header on Saturday, April 23.  Finger Lakes took both games in ten total innings.  Cole Dubois pitched a complete game for the Lakers in game one, recording five strikeouts while allowing only three hits.  James Mitchell finished 3-for-4, including a homerun and a triple.  Mitchell also had six RBI's.  Jon Warner went 3-for-4 with five RBI's and three runs scored.  The Lakers took game one by a final score of 15-1 over the Hornets.

Finger Lakes defeated Broome CC in game two by score of 12-2.  Bryce MacClurg pitched a complete game, striking out six batters at the plate.  Mike Magnanti finished 4-for-4 with three runs scored.  Caden Giroux drove in three runs for the Lakers.  JT Angora finished 2-for-3 with two RBI's.  

The Lakers finished the second half of their series with Broome CC in a double header on Sunday, April 24.  Game one of the double header ended with a 12-0 score in favor of the Lakers.  Alex Mott pitched four innings, allowing three hits and striking out three batters.  Caden Giroux had two hits and three RBI's.  Ryan Mullen also drove in three runs.  

Game two of Sunday's double header was the only game in the series to go a full seven innings.  The Lakers defeated the Hornets by a score of 8-3.  Noah Gorton got the start on the mound for the Lakers, recording four strieouts while allowing no earned runs.  Mike Magnanti finished 4-for-4.  Austin Teets went 2-for-3 with and RBI and one run scored.  Nick Slobodiak drove in two runs for the Lakers.

The Lakers will begin their four game series with Genesee Community College on Tuesday, April 26.  Game one of the double header will begin at 2PM on the Lakers home field. The Lakers will finish out the series on Thursday, April 28, at GCC.
