Lakers Split with Thunder Wolves

The Finger Lakes Community College baseball team split in a double header against the Thunder Wolves from Niagara County Community College on Saturday, April 30th.  The Lakers are now 31-14 overall.

The Lakers topped the Thunder Wolves in game one by a final score of 6-4.  Bryce MacClurg got the start on the mound for the Lakers, allowing three earned runs.  The Lakers tallied up three runs in the bottom of the first inning to go up 3-1 over Niagara.  The Thunder Wolves closed the gap after scoring one run in the top of the fourth.  The Lakers added three more runs in the sixth before giving up two runs in the top of the seventh.  

Danny Goodbread finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored.  James Mitchell hit a triple and batted in two runs. Cole Tracy had one hit including a home run and three RBI's.  

The Lakers fell to the thunder Wolves in game two by a score of 9-1.  Niagara CCC scored two runs in bith the third and fifth innings while holding the Lakers scoreless through five innings. The Lakers were able to score one run in the bottom of the sixth inning.  

Mike Magnanti went 2-for-3.  Danny Goodbread, Jon Warner, James Mitchell, Nick Ferrino, JT Angora and Isaiah Merced had one hit apiece against the Thunder Wolves defense.  Angora would score the lone run for the Lakers.  Noah Gorton pitched five innings for the Lakers, allowing two earned runs while striking out three batters.  

The Lakers will return to action on Tuesday, May 3rd, when they face the Panthers from Tompkins Cortland Community College in a MSAC double header.  Game one is set to begin at 2PM on the Lakers home field.
