Spartans Sweep the Lakers at Falcon Field

AUBURN, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Community College Baseball team traveled to Falcon Park in Auburn, N.Y. to take on the Spartans of Cayuga Community College. The Lakers played a doubleheader against their Mid-State Athletic Conference and National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region III opponent.

In the 1st game of the doubleheader, the Lakers went scoreless for 5 innings before scoring two runs in the top of the 6th. The Lakers got on the board after Tyler Cerame (Hilton, N.Y./ Hilton) singled and Lucas Sulimowicz (Rochester, N.Y/ Greece Athena) hit a monster 2 RBI home run over the left field wall, narrowing the Lakers deficit to 5-2. Both teams would go scoreless for the 7 inning matchup, with the Lakers falling by a score of a 5-2 in the first of two.

In the 2nd game under the lights at Falcon Field, the Lakers struggles continued with Lucas Sulimowicz scoring the lone run for the Lakers thanks to a Lukas Haefner (Rochester, N.Y./ Rush Henrietta) 1 RBI double. Ultimately, the Spartans came out on top in the 5th inning with a 11-1 victory over the Lakers.

Despite the tough outing, the Lakers still remain one of the most dangerous squads in Region III, and will look to make a statement when the team travels to Myrtle Beach, starting with games against SUNY Ulster on March 17th and SUNY Ulster and Bergen Community College on March 18th. The Lakers matchups follow with games against Garrett and Bergen Community College(s) on March 19th, Bergen and Garrett Community College(s) on the 20th and a finale against Ocean County Community College on March 21st.
