SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Community College Baseball team traveled to Onondaga Community College on Thursday, March 31st in a Conference-Divisional matchup with the Lazers. Coming into the game, the Lazer sat a perfect 10-0 on the season.
In Game One, the Lakers were quick to change that. Justin Marshall (Bath, N.Y./ Haverling) would put together a monster first game, hitting a home run while batting in 3 of the Lakers 5 runs of the day. Lukas Haefner (Rochester, N.Y./ Rush Henrietta) and teammate Tyler Cerame (Hilton, N.Y./ Hilton) would add 1 RBI apiece, with Cerame adding to double in the game to round out the scoring for the Lakers. Tim McClare (Macedon, N.Y./ Gananda) would go 1-3 in at bats, adding a double on the game. The Lakers would hand the Lazers their first loss of the season on their home field, in a 5-1 finish. Jake Conklin (Fairport, N.Y./ Fairport) would even his season record to 2-2, striking out 4 and allowing no runs in 4 innings, teammate Sean Peck (Dryden, N.Y./ Dryden) would come in and pitch a solid 3 innings and allowing 2 hits to pick up his 4th save of the season.
In Game Two, the Lakers would battle back-and-forth with the Lazers. Tyler Cerame continued to produce for the Lakers in game two, adding a 2 RBI double in the game. Devin Kelly (Clifton Springs, N.Y./ Midlakes) would add 1 RBI, while teammate Lukas Haefner would go 1-4 at bat with a double to round out the day for the Lakers. The Lazers would tack on the game winning run in bottom of the 7th to pull away with the 4-3 victory.
The Lakers will look to take the doubleheader sweep against the Lazers tomorrow, April 2nd in a 12 PM/2:30 PM start.
