Lakers Improve to 10-2 at Home

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. – The Finger Lakes Community College baseball team played host to the Ithaca College JV Bombers on Wednesday, April 13th

Game 1

Lucas Sulimowicz (Rochester, N.Y./ Greece Athena) would get the Lakers on the board in the bottom of the 1st inning, hitting a 1 RBI single to bring home teammate Tim McClare (Macedon, N.Y./ Gananda).

The Bomber would even score in the top of the 3rd inning to bring the tally to 1-1. Ryan Smith (Fairport, N.Y./ Fairport) would quickly give the Lakers the edge in the bottom of the 4th, hitting a sacrifice fly to right field to bring home teammate Alfredo Hurtado (Davie, F.L./ Chaminade Madonna College Prep) to bring the score to 1-2.

Jorge Oropeza III (Rochester, N.Y./ Greece Athena) would round out the scoring for the Lakers, hitting a 1 RBI single to center field to bring home teammate Tyler Cerame (Hilton, N.Y./ Hilton). 

Game 2

The Lakers got on the board early thanks to a passed ball, allowing Tim McClare to advance home for the score. The Lakers would continue their hot hitting into the 2nd inning thanks to a Tyler Cerame 1 RBI single to bring home teammate Kenny Murphy (Webster, N.Y./ Webster Schroeder). In the following play, Nolan Storch (Elmira, N.Y./ Elmira) would capitalize on a Bombers wild pitch to grow the lead to 3-1.

In the 3rd inning, with bases loaded, Freshman Andres Rios (Weston, F.L./ Cypress Bay) would put his plate vision to the test, drawing a walk with bases loaded to bring in the first run of the inning. The Lakers would continue to capitalize on Bombers' errors, as Ryan Smith would get hit by a Bombers pitcher to advance Kenny Murphy home.

In the bottom of the 4th, Devin Cannon (Spencerport, N.Y./ Spencerport) and Kenny Murphy would score on a fielder's choice to grow the lead to 7-3.

The Lakers would conclude their scoring in the 5th inning, with Lucas Sulimowicz, Devin Cannon & Kenny Murphy each driving in a 1 RBI single.

With the win, the Lakers extend their record to 23-10, while also improving their home record to 10-2 on the season. The Lakers will carry a 6-game win streak into their road matchup, tomorrow April 14th in a Region III matchup against the Generals of Herkimer College.
