Lakers Drop One at Herkimer
HERKIMER, N.Y. - The Lakers traveled to Vets Park for a scheduled doubleheader matchup against the Generals of Herkimer College. The Lakers would go 5-innings in game 1 before play was suspended, and eventually, game 2 would be canceled.
Game 1
The Lakers would fall just short in game 1, by a score of 4-3. Two General home runs proved costly in the final tally. Josh Ferris (North Chili, N.Y./ Churchville-Chili) earned the start on the mound, striking out 5 of the 18 batters faced.
In the hitting column, Alfredo Hurtado (Davie, F.L./ Chaminade Madonna College Prep) would come in the clutch, adding a huge 2 RBI home run in the top of the 2nd inning to give the Lakers an early 2-1 lead. However, the Lakers would go scoreless until the top of the 4th inning when Justin Marshall (Bath, N.Y./ Haverling) hit a 1 RBI sacrifice fly. The Generals' 3 runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning proved decisive in the 5-inning finish.
The Lakers are at Monroe Community College tomorrow, April 16th in a 1 PM/3 PM doubleheader where they will look to continue their stellar play as of late.
