Lakers Pick Up DH Win at Home; Celebrate Major Accomplishment

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. – The Finger Lakes Community College baseball team picked up a doubleheader win in front of a home crowd on Sunday afternoon. The Lakers would a doubleheader sweep over the Jayhawks of Jamestown Community College.

To add to the excitement of the day, head coach Sean Marren surpassed former Athletic Director/baseball coach Bob Lowden for the most wins in FLCC baseball program history with 245.

 

Game 1

Marren would pick up that honor in game 1, with an 8-1 victory. Tim McClare (Macedon, N.Y./ Gananda) would hit a 2 RBI inside the home run to get the Lakers rolling, en route to a 4-run 1st inning.

 

The Lakers would go on to add 1 run in all but the 6th and final inning for the Lakers. Justin Marshall (Bath, N.Y./ Haverling) would back up his consistent play with a 1 RBI double, followed by a double from teammate Alfredo Hurtado (Davie, F.L./ Chaminade Madonna College Prep).

Devin Kelly (Clifton Springs, N.Y./ Midlakes) would round out the Lakers' afternoon, dropping in 2 RBIs and a sacrifice fly.

 

Game 2

Tim McClare and Josh Ferris (North Chili, N.Y./ Gates Chili) would pitch 2 and 5 innings respective, allowing a combined 4 hits on the day.

Nolan Storch (Elmira, N.Y./ Elmira) would put together an impressive outing in game 2, knocking in 2 runs. Teammates Alfredo Hurtado, Lucas Sulimowicz (Rochester, N.Y./ Greece Athena), and Kenny Murphy (Webster, N.Y./ Webster Schroeder) would each add 1 RBI, leading to a 7-5 victory over the Jayhawks.

The Lakers return to action Tuesday afternoon in a matchup with the Tribunes of Monroe Community College.
