CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. - The Lakers hosted the Tribunes of Monroe Community College Tuesday afternoon in a National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region III contest. The Tribunes would take game one before the Lakers came back and took game two of the doubleheader.
Game 1
The Lakers struggled in the hitting column against the Tribunes in game one, Tyler Cerame (Hilton, N.Y./ Hilton) would go 1-for-3 in his at-bats, while Ryan Smith (Fairport, N.Y./ Fairport) would go 1-for-3, for the Lakers 2 hits of the game.
Devin Kelly (Clifton Springs, N.Y./ Midlakes) would go 4 innings at the mound, striking out 3, before Jeremy Hernandez (Weston, F.L./ Cypress Bay) would finish the final 3 innings, picking up 2 strikeouts and allowing 1 hit on 12 batters faced.
2 RBI from Max Schmarder of the Tribunes, along with an RBI from Justin Herrera contributed to the Tribunes' lead. Herrera would pick up a sacrifice fly as well to add the 4th run in the 4-0 finish.
Game 2
The teams would take turns, with the Lakers picking up the blank over the Tribunes, 6-0.
Alfredo Hurtado (Davie, F.L./ Chaminade Madonna College Prep) would lead the way for the Lakers, going 1-for-3 in at-bats, and adding 2 RBIs. Teammates Ryan Smith and Tyler Cerame would each at 1 RBI in the game, Cerame would showcase his baserunning with 1 stolen base the day.
Tim McClare (Macedon, N.Y./ Gananda enjoyed a productive game, going 2-for-3 with 1 RBI, a double, and a triple on the day.
Jake Thomas (Honeoye, N.Y./ Honeoye) would earn the start and the win in the game, painting the corners striking out 6 of the 15 batters faced. Lukas Haefner (Rochester, N.Y./ Rush Henrietta) would come in during the 5th inning, closing out the game with 2 strikeouts. Combined, the pitchers would only the Tribunes 2 hits in the game.
The Lakers return to play Wednesday, April 28th when they host the Jayhawks of Jamestown Community College in an "away" game.
