Baseball Concludes Regular Season with a Win

ITHACA, N.Y. - The Lakers baseball team picked up a season sweep over the Bomber of Ithaca College on May 5th on the Bomber home field. The Lakers would also pick up a doubleheader sweep in what would be their regular season finale in 4-1 and 10-3 wins.

GAME 1

Devin Georgetti (Rochester, N.Y./ Gates-Chili) started and picked up the win on the pitcher's mounds, and currently holds a season record of 6-3. In 4 innings, Georgetti would put away 9 batters and allow only 2 hits and no runs. Sean Peck (Dryden, N.Y./ Dryden) would pick up the final 3 innings in relief, striking out 5 batters and allowing no earned runs to earn his 6th save of the year, the 2nd most in all of NJCAA Division III baseball.

Alfredo Hurtado (Davie, F.L./ Chaminade Madonna College Prep) would drive in a run, Kenny Murphy (Webster, N.Y./ Webster Schroeder) would add an RBI, while teammates Nolan Storch (Elmira, N.Y./ Elmira) and Lukas Haefner (Rochester, N.Y./ Rush Henrietta) would both add 1 RBI apiece.

Tyler Curtis (Greece, N.Y./ Greece Athena) would continue his hitting streak, hitting a double and going 1 for 2 in the game. Ryan Smith (Fairport, N.Y./ Fairport)Devin Kelly (Clifton Springs, N.Y./ Midlakes)Tim McClare (Macedon, N.Y./ Gananda), and Lukas Haefner would each put their baserunning on display, each picking up a stolen base apiece en route to a 4-1 victory.

GAME 2

The Lakers followed up a strong game 1 with an even more impressive game 2, Lakers student-athletes Alfredo HurtadoKenny Murphy, and Lukas Haefner each would add 2 RBIs apiece, with Hurtado and Murphy each picking up a stolen base.

Tyler Curtis would add 1 RBI in the game, while teammates Ryan SmithTyler Cerame (Hilton, N.Y./ Hilton), and Nick Balcom (Camden, N.Y./ Camden) would all add 1 RBI. Cerame would also add a sacrifice fly to bring in a runner, and Smith would add a stolen base in the game.

Tanner Frank (Rochester, N.Y./ Brighton) would pick up the start and a win on the pitcher's mound, starting 5 innings, allowing 4 hits, striking out 4, and allowing 1 earned run improving his record to 3-1 on the season. Jeremy Hernandez (Weston, F.L./ Cypress Bay) pitched 2 innings of relief, striking out 2 batters and allowing 0 earned runs.

The Lakers strong performance earned them a 10-3 victory, and a season sweep over the Ithaca College Bombers JV team. Now the Lakers will prepare and wait for their official NJCAA Region III tournament opponent.
