Baseball Splits with Monroe on the Road

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Community College baseball team traveled to Monroe Community College for the finale of the team's season series on the Tribunes home turf. The Lakers would runaway with game one, 14-2, before suffering a nail-bitting, 3-1 loss on game two.

Game one vs. Monroe

The Lakers collected 10 hits and drove in 13 runs as they coasted to a 14-2 victory over the Tribunes. Sophomore Lucas Sulimowicz (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Athena) shined in the matchup, going 2-for-4 with 4 RBIs; earning 3 RBIs on a triple in the top of the fifth inning to break a 2 all tie. Fellow Sophomore and Greece Athena grad Jorge Oropeza III (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Athena) would triple for his lone hit of the game, going 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Sophomore Kenny Murphy (Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) would go 1-for-3 with 3 RBIs, while teammate DJ Stoianovich (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) went a perfect 2-for-2 with 2 RBIs.

Devin Georgetti (Rochester, N.Y./Gates-Chili) earned the start, throwing 6 innings, allowing 2 earned runs and striking out 8 batters in the process.

Game two vs. Monroe

The two teams were tied 1 all leading up to the fifth inning of play, however, the Tribunes would hit a 2 RBI single and ride that advantage to the finish, taking game two, 3-1.

Sophomore Tyler Cerame (Hilton, N.Y./Hilton) led the Lakers, going 2-for-3 with a run scored, on a DJ Stoianovich single in the top of the third inning.

Sophomore Nick Balcom (Camden, N.Y./Camden) threw all 6 innings and struckout 5 batters in the process, despite holding the Tribunes to 3 runs on the day, the sophomore would tally a loss in the book.
