Rainbow Six Siege Finishes as NJCAAe National Runner-up

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Community College eSports program concluded its fall season Friday night as the program watched the Rainbow Six Siege Green team compete for an NJCAAe T3 National Championship against the USC - Sumter Fire Ants.

A battle between the #1 and #2 teams in the country was everything the fans could have asked for as the two powerhouse programs battled it out on the biggest stage. The Fire Ants would jump out to an early 2-0 lead before the Lakers took a round 3 victory to hold off the best of the 3 series. A late rally by the Lakers in round 4 almost saw them bring the game 2-all, but they would fall short as the Fire Ants would walk away with their second NJCAAe National Championship this fall season.

For the Lakers, it was a historic season, with several programs outperforming expectations to soar in the national rankings. In tier 2, Rocket League Blue finished top-16, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II finished top-16, Overwatch 2 which was ranked #25 heading into the playoffs finished in the top-8 and Valorant earned a top-16 finish. In tier 3, Thomas LoDestro who was ranked #3 in the playoffs earned a national runner-up spot, Smash Bros Ultimate saw four student-athletes including Joshua Schoonover, Jakob Bamberger, Izzy Smith, and Tucker Drouin all finish in the top-8. The Rocket League Green team finished top-16 followed by the Lakers National Runner-up, Rainbow Six Siege Green.

The team will head into their mid-semester break before returning to action this spring for what should be another exciting season for FLCC eSports.
