FLCC eSports Sets Sights on Spring Title

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. - The FLCC eSports team is gearing up for another competitive run in the NJCAAe National Playoffs this spring, building on their strong performances from last fall. With several teams and players returning, the squad is poised for several runs at an NJCAAe National Championship.  

Kicking off the spring playoffs yesterday on April 15, the Tekken 8 team, featuring student-athletes Thomas LoDestro ("ThomasXD"), Brayden Noteware ("OddBall"), and Andrei Campbell ("Bugbuns"), will compete in Tier 3. Joining them, is the Fortnite - No Build team, including Asa McKaig ("Frosty") and Jakob Bamberger ("GameGenius").

On April 16, the action continues with Smash Bros. Ultimate where Tucker Drouin ("Cosmic") will represent FLCC in Tier 2 and Joshua Schoonover ("Dr_Mantisa") in Tier 3. The Fortnite - Build team, with Carl Barwald ("Plug"), Mason Smith ("Finch"), and Joseph Yates ("HarryKing"), will also compete.

The Overwatch 2 team is set to compete on April 17. Coming off a strong performance in the fall, they are expected to be a team to watch throughout the playoffs for the Lakers. Following them on April 18, Joseph Yates ("HarryKing") will take on Mario Kart 8 DX in Tier 3. Yates enters the Tier 3 division following a National Championship win last spring in the intramural class.

The playoffs will conclude with both Valorant and Rainbow 6 Siege on April 20. These teams are poised for another impressive run as the Lakers Rainbow 6 Siege squad finished as the NJCAAe National Runner-up in the fall. Valorant, which earned a top-16 finish in the fall, is led by Francesca Dean ("Hunniebunnie"), Nick Reifsnyder ("Nicky")Alex Schimizzi ("DuskyN1ght"), Gaven Valder ("Zodiac"), Meagan Webster ("Pencey"), Max Ransom ("FricanRican"), and Joseph Yates ("HarryKing"). On the Rainbow 6 Seige squad are Lin Levy ("GunpowderTim"), Asa McKaig ("Frosty"), Hunter Shuler ("AmTurtle")Edwin Boldt ("Caliber")Joseph Yates ("HarryKing"), and Brayden Noteware ("OddBall").
