Lakers Defeat Vikings 88-58

CANANDAIGUA -- The Finger Lakes Men's Basketball team got back on the winning side on Saturday, defeated Hudson Valley Community College 88-58. The Lakers are now 8-2 on the season and 5-2 in Region III play.

The Vikings came out and sank their opening three point attempt. It would be their only lead on the afternoon however. Following a Brandon Bullock layup and a pair of free throws, the Lakers took the lead back and would not relinquish it the rest of the day. The Lakers used a small 7-0 run in the middle of the half to widen the margin. Bullock with hit a three pointer for his 17th point of the half with three seconds remaining to give the Lakers a 39-26 lead at halftime.

The Lakers opened the second half on a 9-0 run over the first three minutes to make it a 20 point game. The Lakers would stretch the lead to as many as 34 points with six minutes remaining. Noah Whalen had a strong half for the Lakers hitting all four shots, including a three, as well as pair of free throws for 11 points, a new career-high. The Lakers continued on to the 88-58 victory.

Brandon Bullock finished with a season-high 23 points. He also added 11 rebounds and four assists. Whalen and Kievonn Banks were the only other players in double-figures. Banks finished with 11 points.

The Lakers play their final home game of the fall semester on Sunday as they host SUNY Adirondack. The regional matchup with the Timberwolves is set to start at 3pm.
