Men's Basketball Improves Regional Record to 3-2

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. – The Finger Lakes Community College Men's Basketball team improved their Region III record to 3-2 on Saturday against the Hudson Valley Community College Vikings. The Lakers won 75-63.

It was an interesting start to the game on Saturday. There was a violation during warmups that led to a free throw before tip-off, made by Devin Green that would put the Lakers in the lead 1-0. There was a foul soon after tip-off that led to the Vikings also scoring one point, putting them back to a tie game. The Lakers managed to keep the Vikings to one point until they hit 12-1. It was from there that the Vikings would start their scoring back up.

The Lakers kept a great defensive hold on the Vikings and were leading 40-28 going into halftime. The Vikings were not ready to lose yet though, and came back scoring 35 after the half. The Lakers also scored 35 points in the second half, which would give them the win.

The Lakers shot 25-64 in the field, earning them a 39.1 field goal percentage. The Vikings shot 24-68, giving them a 35.3 field goal percentage.

Game leaders for the Lakers were Green with 21 points, and nine rebounds, and Rodrigue Marthone with 17 points, six assists, and three steals.

The Lakers will play again at home on Wednesday, December 5th. They will play the Tompkins Cortland Community College Panthers at 7:30pm.
