Men's Basketball Earns Seven Game Win Streak

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. – The Finger Lakes Community College Men's Basketball team won their final home game of the regular season on Wednesday against the Cayuga Community College Spartans. The Lakers won 71-66. This is their seventh win in a row.

Wednesday night was Sophomore Night for the Lakers. They honored their four Sophomores; Brad Stone, Rodrigue Marthone, Jake Dunn, and Averi Parker.

The Spartans came out wanting redemption after their loss to the Lakers on Monday. They even started the game off with the first two points on the board. It was back and forth throughout the whole first half. At the end of the half, it was the Spartans that held the lead. The Lakers went into the locker room trailing, 35-33.

The first points of the second half were from the Spartans again. It wasn't until 12:27 left in the game that the Lakers found a lead. Anthony Stevens made a layup after a steal from Parker to put the Lakers to a 41-40 lead. The Lakers went up from there, cushioning their lead until the end. The Lakers took the game 71-66.

The Lakers shot 24-47 in the field, giving them a 51.1 field goal percentage. The Spartans shot 27-64 in the field, giving them a 42.2 field goal percentage.

Game leaders for the Lakers were Devin Green with 24 points, 13 rebounds, five assists, and two steals, Rudy Bragg with 16 points, and Stone with seven points, and three blocks.

The Lakers will play their final game of their regular season on Saturday, February 16th at Onondaga Community College. A win Saturday will solidify the Lakers hosting the Mid State Athletic Conference Tournament. Tip-off will be at 3:00pm.
