Men's Basketball Ends Season

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. – The Finger Lakes Community College Men's Basketball team finished out their season last night in the Region III Quarterfinal against the Corning Community College Red Barons. The Lakers lost 90-87.

The entire game was exciting from the beginning. This was the fourth time these two teams have faced off this season. Corning took the first win in regular season play, while the Lakers took the second regular season game. At the Mid State Athletic Conference Tournament, Corning took home the win again. So this game was even more important to the Lakers.

The Red Barons started out on top in the beginning of the game. It wasn't until eight minutes into the game when Rodrigue Marthone put the Lakers in the lead for a good amount of the game.

The Lakers went into the locker room at halftime, up by four points. The score at the end of the half was 44-40.

The Lakers managed to keep their lead for most of the second half. They were up by nine points, seven minutes in. With ten minutes left in the game, the Red Barons found the lead again. This would pressure the Lakers to try and answer back. They managed to find the lead again, but due to fouls, the Lakers could not keep it up.

The game ended with turnover to solidify the Red Baron victory, 90-87.

The Lakers went 37-76 in the field, earning them a 48.7 shooting percentage. The Red Barons went 31-68 in the field, earning them a 45.6 shooting percentage.

Game leaders for the Lakers were Devin Green with 18 points, 12 rebounds, eight assists, and two steals, and Marthone with 17 points, six rebounds, one assist, and two steals.

This was the final game of the 2018-19 Men's Basketball Season. The Lakers say goodbye to Sophomores Brad Stone, Averi Parker, Rodrigue Marthone, and Jake Dunn.
