Men's Basketball Gets Ninth Win

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. – The Finger Lakes Community College Men's Basketball team gained their ninth win of the season after their winter break against the Bryant & Stratton Rochester Bobcats on Tuesday. The Lakers won 84-80.

The Bobcats started off strong early on in the game. They had nine points before the Lakers could get their first points on the board. From then on it was a struggle for the Lakers to catch up. With around 30 seconds left in the first half, Derek Slywka made a three-point shot that drastically cut the Bobcats lead down. Gedeon Germinal made three-pointer right after that and put them with an 11-point deficit going into halftime. The score was 46-35.

The second half was huge offensively for the Lakers. They scored the first points of the half with a made three-pointer from Dante Cannon-Ford. Everyone was pitching in and scoring points to cut down that deficit. With 14:16 left in the game, Hakeem Dobbins tied up the score with a made layup. It was a battle from then on for the lead.

The final minutes of the game is where everything started to get interesting. The Lakers had an eight-point lead. The Bobcats made two layups and started to close the gap. It came down to free throws, smart possessions, and a few timeouts from there. The Lakers managed to keep their lead and won 84-80.

Game leaders for the Lakers were Dobbins with 19 points, Cannon-Ford with 15 points, twelve rebounds, four assists, and four steals, and Gedeon Germinal with 14 points.
