Lakers Win Big Victory Over Cannoneers

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. – The Finger Lakes Community College Men's Basketball team won their third game in a row on Saturday against the Jefferson Community College Cannoneers. The Lakers won 108-81.

Hakeem Dobbins scored the first two points of the game on Saturday. The scoring was a bit back and forth until Derek Slywka made two free-throws to put them in the lead 9-7. This is where the Lakers would start to really grow their lead. Everything seemed to be going right for the Lakers. Whenever the Lakers were putting up shots, they were falling. It was the opposite for the Cannoneers. They couldn't get their shots to fall and their field goal percentage showed it. The Lakers ended the first half with a score of 49-37.

The second half was a little different from the first. The Cannoneers started making more shots. They more than doubled their score from the first half. The Lakers kept their pace and scored ten more points than they did in the first. The Cannoneers couldn't shake their tough first half, and fell 108-81.

Game leaders for the Lakers were Dobbins with 33 points and two steals, Slywka with 20 points, and Dante Cannon-Ford with 16 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists.
