Lakers Suffer Second Straight Loss

HERKIMER, N.Y. – The Finger Lakes Community College Men's Basketball team travelled to Herkimer College Sunday, November 14th for Region III matchup with the Generals.

The Lakers suffered their 2nd loss in two days to the Generals of Herkimer College, 67-43. Their loss comes a day after dropping a game to the Hawks of Mohawk Valley Community College yesterday, November 13th

Lakers Sophomore Jevonte Williams (Rochester, N.Y./ Rush Henrietta) led the Lakers in the scoring column, adding 16 points while also pulling down 2 offensive rebounds. On defense, Williams grabbed 4 steals on the afternoon, to lead the Lakers. Sophomore Ben Waterman (Savannah, N.Y.) continued his consistent play, adding 9 points, while also pulling down 3 offensive rebounds on the offensive end. On the defensive end, Waterman added 3 defensive rebounds, while also pulling in a single steal. 

Freshman CJ James (Victor, N.Y./ Victor) has come up big in his last three games and continued his stellar play in all facets of the game. James pulled down 6 offensive rebounds and dished out 2 assists, while on defense pulling down 5 defensive rebounds, grabbing 1 steal and blocking 3 shots. James has stood out as one of the Lakers best defensive players who has the potential to produce extra scoring opportunities for the Lakers squad.

Freshman Danny Amador (Naples, F.L./ Palmetto Ridge) added 5 points, 2 offensive rebounds and 1 defensive rebounds, while teammate Devon Payton (Rochester, N.Y./ Gates Chili) knocked down a 3-pointers and a pair of free throws to round out his scoring. Payton also pulled down a defensive and offensive rebound a piece while adding 1 steal to his total.

After a 2-game away stretch which saw the team fall to 4-2, the Lakers return home Thursday, November 18thfor a 7 PM matchup with the Houghton College JV. The Lakers look to get back on track in their first home game back, which is their first game in a 4-game homestand.
