Lakers Drop Crucial Conference Matchup

CORNING, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Community College Men's Basketball team traveled to the home court of the Corning Community College Red Barons. The Lakers dropped the crucial conference matchup with a final score of 76-64.

The Lakers remained competitve in the first-half, with the Red Barons clinging to a 1-point lead going into the break. However, the Red Barons pulled up, ultimately earning a 12-point victory.

The Lakers were led by guard Jaisan Parker (Durham, N.C./ Bull City Prep), the freshman guard added 16 points to the scoring column and pulling down a single rebound. Freshman teammate Austin Franklin (Hunstville, A.L/ Prince George) added 15 points, while dishing out a single assist and snagging 1 steal.

Sophomore Ben Waterman (Savannah, N.Y.) added 11 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 block. Freshman CJ James (Victor, N.Y./ Victor) filled up the stat sheet, pulling in 8 rebounds, while adding 1 assist, block and steal apiece in the matchup. Freshman Paxton Creek (Kalgoorie, Australia/ Eastern Goldfields) went 2-7 from beyond-the-arc, good for 6 points. 

Freshman Danny Amador (Naples, F.L./ Palmetto Ridge) added 11 points while teammate Mysiah Williams (Brooklyn, N.Y./ Abraham Lincoln) added 3 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists.

The Lakers return to action tomorrow Saturday, January 15th in a Mid-State Athletic Conference matchup with the Spartans of Cayuga Community College. The Lakers look to gain an edge in the conference with a win over the Spartans.
