Lakers Earn Home Win Against Conference Opponent

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Community College Men's Basketball team hosted their first home game of the New Year against the visiting Spartans of Cayuga Community College. The Lakers picked up an impressive win over the Spartans, winning 82-72.

The Lakers spread the wealth, with 4 players scoring in double figures. The leader of the night being Devon Payton (Rochester, N.Y./ Gates Chili) who had an impressive game off the bench, scoring 24 points and adding 1 assist to his total. On defense, Payton added 1 rebound and 2 steals. Sophomore Ben Waterman (Savannah, N.Y.) filled the stat sheet in an impressive game, scoring 11 points and adding 5 assists, 12 rebounds, 4 steals and 1 block on an all-around game.

Jaisan Parker (Durham, N.C./ Bull City Prep) had an impressive game on defense, adding 5 steals and 3 rebounds while scoring 12 points and dishing out 5 assists on offense. Freshman Paxton Creek (Kalgoorie, Australia/ Eastern Goldfields) had a career night, dropping 18 points and going 5-10 from beyond-the-arc. On defense Creek added 3 rebounds and 1 steal.

The Lakers saw scoring from Mysiah Williams (Brooklyn, N.Y./ Abraham Lincoln) who added 4 points and 4 rebounds, while teammate CJ James (Victor, N.Y./ Victor) had another impressive outing, adding 6 points and 1 assists on offense, while pulling in 11 rebounds and 1 steal on defense.

The Lakers thwarted an impressive outing from the Spartans Shaheem Sanders who put up a monstrous double-double with 20 points and 29 rebounds.

The Lakers look to get back to work in a home matchup with the visiting Lazers of Onondaga Community College on January 19th at 7:30 PM.
