Lazers 2nd-Half Surge Proves Decisive

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Community College Men's Basketball team was at home in the Putt Moore Gymnasium against conference opponent Onondaga Community College. Despite a close first-half, the Lakers dropped the matchup 91-77.

At the break, the Lazers held onto an 11 point lead. The Lakers fought all the way back to make it a 3 points game early in the 2nd-half, but the Lazers went on to outscore the Lakers 38-25 to close out the game.

Devon Payton (Rochester, N.Y./ Gates Chili) led the way for the Lakers off the bench, pouring in 25 points while grabbing 5 rebounds, dishing out 3 assists and snagging 2 steals on defense. Fellow guard Jaisan Parker (Durham, N.C./ Bull City Prep) played a complimentary role, adding 16 points, 2 rebounds and 3 assists.

Sophomore Ben Waterman (Savannah, N.Y.) was a force on defense, grabbing 8 rebounds and blocking 3 shots. Waterman added 13 points and 1 assist on the offensive end as well. Freshman CJ James (Victor, N.Y./ Victor) continued to fill up the stat sheet, 4 points, a team-high 14 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals and 4 blocks. 

The Lakers have a quick turnaround, as they host the Cougars of Genesee Community College on Friday, January 21st at 7:30 PM.
