Lakers Drop Regional Matchup on the Road

BATAVIA, N.Y. – The Lakers traveled to Genesee Community College Wednesday night in a NJCAA Region III matchup with the Cougars. Ultimately, the Cougars came away with the late season win, by a score of 81-64.

The Lakers were led by Sophomore Ben Waterman (Savannah, N.Y.) who tied a team-high 17 points. Waterman filled the stat sheet, adding 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 1 steal to his total.

Teammate Devon Payton (Rochester, N.Y./ Gates Chili) helped pace the Lakers offensive attack, adding 17 of his own points while dishing out 4 assists. On the defensive end, Payton added 4 rebounds and 1 steal. 

Guard Jaisan Parker (Durham, N.C./ Bull City Prep) added 12 point, 4 rebounds 1 assist and 3 steals in a strong defensive showing. Teammate CJ James (Victor, N.Y./ Victor) added 8 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 1 block to his total on the night, while Austin Franklin (Hunstville, A.L./ Prince George) added 5 points and 3 rebounds.

The Lakers return to play on their homecourt, February 5th against the visiting Red Barons of Corning Community College. The Lakers look to get back on track in their Mid-State Athletic Conference Matchup.
