Lakers Team Effort Leads to Victory in Season Finale

DRYDEN, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Community College Men's Basketball team put together a great team win over the Panthers of Tompkins Cortland Community College Tuesday night. In a team effort, the Lakers saw 4 players reach double figures in a 70-59 final score.

Lakers Freshman Devon Payton (Rochester, N.Y./ Gates Chili) continued his hot streak, dropping in 15 points and 5 assists, while pulling down a team-high 11 rebounds good for a double-double. On defense, Payton reeled in 2 steals. Freshman Austin Franklin (Hunstville, A.L./ Prince George) enjoyed a productive outing, scoring 16 points on 7-14 shooting. Franklin added in 4 assists on offense, while pulling in 8 rebounds, 1 steal and 2 blocks on defense.

Freshman CJ James (Victor, N.Y./ Victor) filled the stat sheet, scoring 12 points and dishing out 3 dimes, while pulling in 9 rebounds and recording 3 steals and 2 blocks on defense. Freshman Paxton Creek (Kalagoorie, Australia/ Eastern Goldfields) knocked down three 3-pointers in the start, good for 9 points, while recording a single rebound and assist apiece. 

Sophomore Jevonte Williams (Rochester, N.Y./ Rush Henrietta) played an overall game, helping set up his teammates with 6 dimes, to go along with 13 points on offense. In a defensive effort, Williams recorded 6 rebounds, 3 steals and 1 block on the night. Freshman Mysiah Williams (Brooklyn, N.Y./ Abraham Lincoln) made the most of his 18 minutes of play, dropping in 2 points, 2 assists and 1 rebound on offense, while pulling down 5 rebounds and blocking 2 shots on defense. Teammate Danny Amador (Naples, F.L./ Palmetto Ridge) came off the bench and knocked down one 3-pointer and grabbed 1 rebound in 4 minutes of play.

The Lakers come away with a great overall team win against their Mid-State Athletic Conference opponent in the Panthers (10-11), to finish out the regular season on a high note.
