Lakers Fall to Regional Opponent at Home

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. - The Lakers returned to the Putt Moore Court for their first matchup of 2023 spring semester. The Lakers would drop a lopsided affair with the visiting Mohawk Valley Community College Hawks, despite a strong opening effort.

The Lakers were led by sophomore forward Paxton Creek (Kalgoorie, Australia/ Eastern Goldfields) would would light it up from the 3-point range on 5 of 11 shooting beyond the arc. Creek would finish the afternoon with 17 points, 6 rebounds, and 1 assist in 36 minutes played. Sophomore guard Juan Navedo (New Britain, C.T./ Cornerstone Charter Academy) followed with 16 points, 4 assists and a rebound.

Freshman Spencer Reese (Farmington, N.Y.) made his season debut and would not disappoint in a scrappy effort. Reese would see 30 minutes of play time on the floor and finish the afternnon with a team-high 8 rebounds (4 offensive) to go along with 6 points and 2 steals. Sophomore guard Danny Amador (Naples, F.L./ Palmetto Ridge) ended the afternoon with 13 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 steal.

Freshman Frankie Oropeza (Rochester, N.Y./ Greece Athena) earned his first start of the season, dropping in 2 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and a blocked shot. Teammate Donevan Rotmans (Rochester, N.Y./ Gates Chili) would come off the bench and add in 5 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and a steal and block appiece to wrap up his efforts.

The Lakers will return home tomorrow January 15th for a Region III matchup with the Fulton-Montgomery Community College Raiders at 3 PM.
