Lakers Fall in Conference Matchup on the Road

WATERTOWN, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Community College men's basketball team dropped their second-straight game in a 93-60 loss to the SUNY Jefferson Cannoneers at the McVean Gymnasium. Turnovers marked the difference maker in the matchup as the team totaled 26 for the game.

Freshman Jace Brown (Red Creek, N.Y./Red Creek) led the scoring for the Lakers with 12 points, making an efficient 6-for-9 from the field. Brown also contributed 4 rebounds to make his impact felt on both ends of the court. Teammate Jaquan Shears (Rochester, N.Y./Monroe) returned to action after being out for the Lakers last game and would add 10 points and 5 rebounds to his tally.

Sophomore Andrew Edwards-Ferrell (Rochester, N.Y./U Prep) added 6 points and a team-high 12 rebounds to his total, demonstrating his presence in the paint. Jaden Hartsfield (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Odyssey) poured in 6 points and 3 assists, and teammate Slayde Huntley (Herrin, IL./Herrin) contributed 8 points to the scoring column.

With the loss, the Lakers record moves to 5-5 this season. The team will look to regroup and prepare for a 3-game home stretch featuring matchups against Tompkins Cortland, Erie, and Columbia-Greene Community College(s). The Lakers will welcome the Tompkins Cortland Community College Panthers to campus next Tuesday, November 5th at 5 PM for a conference showdown between the two programs on the Putt Moore Court.
