Second Half Rally Leads Twins to Victory

Second Half Rally Leads Twins to Victory

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. - It was a tale of two halves for the Lakers who dropped their fifth-consecutive game to the Columbia-Greene Community College Twins. Despite a back-and-forth first half, the Lakers would take a 7-point advantage into the halftime break. However, a scoreless five minutes and a flurry of three-pointers by the Twins would see their lead grow by as many as 17. A late comeback attempt would fall short as the Twins walked away with a 94-82 victory over the Lakers.

Freshman James Reaves Jr. (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Athena) would have a career night, leading the scoring with 17 points and shooting an efficient 6-for-10 from the field, including 2 clutch three-pointers to give the Lakers momentum. Teammates Slayde Huntley (Herrin, Illinois/Herrin) and Jaden Hartsfield (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Odyssey) each would have strong nights as Huntley would score 13 points, including 3 three-pointers, while Hartsfield poured in 13 points to go along with 6 rebounds and a team-high 5 assists.

Freshman Jace Brown (Red Creek, N.Y./Red Creek) was a spark off the Lakers bench with several big baskets. Brown would finish with 10 points on 5-for-6 shooting. Teammates Felton Gray (Rochester, N.Y./Monroe) and Davion Jones (Rochester, N.Y./Monroe) each contributed 8 points, and Gray would shoot a perfect 4-for-4 from the field.

The Lakers will have a lengthy pause in action as they approach the mid-semester break. The team will not return to action until Saturday, January 13th, 2024 when the team travels to Mohawk Valley Community College for a 2 PM tip-off in Utica, N.Y.
