Lakers Falls to Non-Conference Opponent at Home

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Community College men's basketball team saw their 3-game win streak come to an end at the hands of the Hudson Valley Community College Vikings Sunday afternoon in a 74-62 finale.

Freshman Jaquan Shears (Rochester, N.Y./Monroe) was the leading scorer with 16 points. Shears contributed 4 rebounds, 4 steals, and a block to round out an all-around effort. Sophomore Andrew Edwards-Ferrell (Rochester, N.Y./U Prep) posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

James Reaves Jr. (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Athena) earned the start and added 8 points and 9 rebounds in the start. Sophomore Bruce Wilder Jr. (Rochester, N.Y./Fairport) brought energy off the bench, scoring 14 points and hitting all 6 of his free throw attempts.

An early lead by the Vikings proved to be the difference maker as the Lakers struggled to bring the game within reach. The team will hit the road this Tuesday, January 30th for a 7 PM matchup with the Genesee Community College Cougars in Batavia, N.Y.
