Lakers Face Setback in Loss to Raiders

JOHNSTOWN, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Community College men's basketball team suffered a 95-78 defeat to the host Fulton-Montgomery Community College Raiders. Despite a strong effort, the Lakers struggled against one of the top programs in Region III.

Sophomore Andrew Edwards-Ferrell (Rochester, N.Y./U Prep) was a key player in the game, adding 17 points on 8-for-11 shooting from the field. Edwards-Ferrell led the team in rebounding with 8 boards to round out the day. Teammates Jaquan Shears (Rochester, N.Y./Monroe) and Jace Brown (Red Creek, N.Y./Red Creek) each added 12 points. Shears grabbed 5 rebounds while Brown contributed 6 boards.

Sophomore Marvin Reed Jr. (Durham, N.C./Faith Assembly) provided a significant boost off the bench, scoring 16 points, including two three-pointers. Classmate Slayde Huntley (Herrin, Il./Herrin) added 8 points and 5 rebounds to his tally in a strong overall performance.

The Lakers will enjoy a rest day before going into an action-packed weekend. The Lakers will hit the road for North Country Community College on Saturday, February 3rd for a 3 PM matchup, followed by a 1 PM matchup against Clinton Community College on Sunday, February 4th.
