Lakers Fall in Conference Semifinals on the Road

WATERTOWN, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Community College men's basketball team hit the road for SUNY Jefferson Community College Friday night for the Mid-State Athletic Conference (MSAC) semifinals. The Lakers who dropped a game to the Cannoneers earlier in the season would gain an early lead. Following a timeout, the Cannoneers would rally to build a narrow 6-point lead heading into halftime. Despite a rally, the Lakers would drop their matchup, 82-66.

Sophomore Andrew Edwards-Ferrell (Rochester, N.Y./U Prep) would play all 40 minutes of the game and score 21 points on an efficient 8-for-10 from the court. Edwards-Ferrell dominated the boards, pulling down 17 rebounds, 10 of which came on the offensive end. Freshman James Reaves Jr. (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Athena) supported the scoring with 18 points of his own. Reaves Jr. would pull in 8 rebounds and dish out 6 assists in the game.

Teammates Slayde Huntley (Herrin, Il./Herrin) and Jaquan Shears (Rochester, N.Y./Monroe) added 11 and 9 points, respectively. Up next is a trip to Mohawk Valley Community College next Tuesday, February 27th. The Lakers will tip off against the Hawks at 7 PM.
