CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. — The Finger Lakes Community College men's lacrosse team opened its 2021 season on its turf field Wednesday evening, dropping its opener to Genesee Community College by a score of 29-2.
After allowing a goal nine seconds in, the Lakers (0-1) pulled even on an unassisted tally from freshman CJ Cangemi (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua Academy) with 14:02 remaining in the opening quarter. But that was as close as the Lakers would get.
Freshman Aaron Brooks (Geneva, NY/Geneva) scored towards the end of the third quarter, sophomore Keith Barlow (Cooperstown, NY/Cooperstown) had 11 saves, and classmate Sean Delaney (Victor, NY/Victor) scooped up three groundballs for FLCC.
The Lakers return to action at noon on Sunday hosting Tompkins Cortland Community College.
