Lakers Offense Breaks Out in Narrow Loss at Mohawk Valley

UTICA, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes men's lacrosse team responded to their 32-4 setback at Onondaga with their best offensive effort of the season, pushing Mohawk Valley in a back-and-forth battle that stayed close throughout.

Dillon Robinson (Bloomfield, N.Y./Bloomfield) poured in a career-high 7 goals, while Philip Love (Seneca Falls, N.Y./Mynderse) added 3 goals and 2 assists to pace the Lakers' scoring unit. Matt Cheney (Phelps, N.Y./Midlakes) recorded 3 goals and an assist.

Dakota Bajdas (Geneva, N.Y./Geneva) added 2 more goals, with Matthew Brown (Victor, N.Y./Victor), Isaac Pundt (Seneca Falls, N.Y./Mynderse), and Christopher Cangemi (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua Academy) each recording assists as Finger Lakes nearly matched Mohawk goal-for-goal.

Defensively, Blake Wells (Scranton, PA./Abington Heights) stood tall in the net with 12 saves on 29 shots. The Lakers scooped up 51 ground balls as a team, led by Dillon Robinson (8), Phillip Love (5), and Christopher Cangemi (6).

Despite the loss, the Lakers will look to shift their focus to their season finale at Tompkins Cortland Community College next Wednesday, April 16th at 4:30 PM.
