Men's and Women's Soccer Start their 2019-20 Season

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. – The Finger Lakes Community College Women's and Men's Soccer teams kicked off their seasons on Sunday against the Monroe Community College Tribunes. The Women's team lost 11-0, and the Men's team lost 7-1.

Women's Game

The Tribunes scored six goals in the first half, and five goals in the second half. After Katrina Yencer scored three goals in the first half, the Lakers managed to shut her down for the rest of the game.

Game leaders for the Lakers were Cassidy Niver, Alexis Gossage, and Ashlyn Piccarreto who each took one shot on goal, Sarah Barker who had nine saves, and Megan Allen who also had nine saves.

The Lakers will play their next game at North Country Community College. They will play the Saints on Wednesday, August 28th, at 2:00pm.

Men's Game

Most of the scoring happened in the first half of the game. The Tribunes' Saad Mohacht had the first two goals of the game. There were two more Tribune goals after those. Phil Narraway scored the Lakers' lone goal in a penalty kick situation 22 minutes into the game. The Tribunes scored one more goal before the first half came to a close. The Tribunes would come back in the second half to score their last two goals of the game.

Game leaders for the Lakers were Narraway with one shot and one goal, Dylan Wood with one shot on goal, and Goalkeeper Zach Payne who had 14 saves.

The Lakers will play their next game at North Country Community College. They will play the Saints after the Women's game on Wednesday, August 28th, at 4:00pm.
