Lakers Win 6-0 Over Thunder Wolves

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. – The Finger Lakes Community College Men's Soccer team beat the Niagara County Community College Thunder Wolves on Wednesday. The Lakers won 6-0. This is their second shutout of the season.

The Lakers started the scoring early on Wednesday. Just three and a half minutes in, Travis Cotton scored the first goal of the game assisted by Nathan Sanford. They were keeping the ball on their own feet for the majority of the game. At almost 11 minutes in, Braeden Szostak scored his first of the game. He was assisted by Cotton. This would finish the scoring for the first half. The Lakers were leading 2-0.

After the half, Hunter Byron scored his first goal of the game unassisted. Once Byron opened up the scoring for the second half, the Lakers kept finding the back of the net. Three minutes after Byron, Szostak scored his second goal of the game. Almost exactly a minute later, Allen Freer scored with a pass from Szostak. The final goal of the game was scored by Byron, again unassisted. The Lakers won 6-0.

Game leaders for the Lakers were Szostak with two goals and one assist, Byron with two goals, Cotton with one goal and one assist, and Goalkeeper Zach Payne with four saves.

The Lakers will play again away against Roberts Wesleyan JV on Saturday, October 5th. They will play at 6:00pm.
