Lakers Wrap Up Indoor Season at SUNY Brockport

BROCKPORT, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Community College track and field team wrapped up their brief indoor portion of their season at SUNY Brockport this Saturday, February 3rd. Freshman Trinity Ortiz led the charge with an NJCAA Region III and NJCAA Division III championship qualifying long jump of 4.87m, while also showing her speed in the 60m dash, placing 8th overall with a time of 8.16 seconds.

Teammates Megan Calder and Morgan Cheney both had a strong showing in the mile, finishing with times of 6:20.6 and 6:40.6, respectively, with Cheney also posting a time of 4:03.34 in the 1000m. Week one female NJCAA Region III Athlete of the Week Juliette Ventura showcased her versatility in the pentathlon, earning 1675 points, while week one NJCAA Region III male Athlete of the Week recipient Terreque Davis achieved success in both the high jump, with a mark of 1.66m, and the long jump, qualifying for regionals with an impressive leap of 5.98m.

Freshman Zachary Lester put his endurance on display, completing the mile in 6:00.37 and the 1000m in 3:32.64. In the field events, freshman Jason Hunt-McLean contributed with a shot put throw of 9.12m. Sophomore Justin Luna rounded out the team's efforts with a time of 11.25 seconds in the 60m hurdles and 27.95 in the 200m.

The Lakers will patiently wait for their first outdoor meet on Saturday, March 30th when the team travels to Geneseo for the SUNY Geneseo Early Invite.
