Bio

Finger Lakes Community College (FLCC) warmly welcomes Steven Verbridge as the new Head Coach for our Men’s Volleyball program. Equipped with a rich coaching pedigree and dedication to fostering excellence, Verbridge steps in at an exciting time for the team following their triumph at the 2023 NJCAA Men’s Volleyball National Invitational Championship.

Acknowledging the solid foundation laid by Andrew Solomon, the present head of FLCC's women’s volleyball and the founding coach for the men’s team, Verbridge is eager to build upon the existing achievements. He credits the program's early successes to Coach Solomon and is determined to expand the program by tapping into the local volleyball talent pool abundant in the region and Section V.

Verbridge’s commitment to volleyball and student-athlete development is evident in his impressive coaching journey. His tenure includes two years as an assistant coach and a transformative six years as the head coach for the Canandaigua Academy boys' varsity program. His leadership in the debut season saw a significant increase in the program's win record, and by 2017, he led the team to a commendable 17-5 record, marking their first winning season since 1995. This achievement didn't go unnoticed as it was spotlighted by the Daily Messenger as a standout in Section V that year.

With an overall 76-52 record, and a 258-194 set record, Verbridge is a prominent figure in Canandaigua Academy boys' volleyball history. Beyond athletic success, he emphasizes the importance of academics. Under his leadership, the Canandaigua Academy boys’ volleyball program celebrated numerous scholar-athlete recognitions, showcasing Verbridge’s comprehensive approach to player development.

But his love for sports doesn't stop at volleyball. Verbridge has also made his mark by coaching the Canandaigua Academy's girls’ modified A team and influencing modified baseball for almost a decade. Off the court and field, he is a dedicated educator at Waterloo Middle School.

Verbridge's vast sports experience also includes officiating roles in football, basketball, and baseball across high school and collegiate levels.

A proud graduate of FLCC, Verbridge furthered his education with a Physical Education degree from SUNY Brockport in 2010, followed by an Athletic Administration degree in 2014. With a deep connection to FLCC and its community, Verbridge envisions creating a volleyball program that stands as a beacon, inviting others to join and share in the college's rich legacy.
