Cross Country Concludes Season at NJCAA Division III National Championship

HUNTSVILLE, AL. - Two student-athletes from Finger Lakes Community College traveled to John Hunt Parks in Huntsville, Alabama for the 2023 NJCAA Division III National Championships on Saturday, November 11th. On the women's side, freshman Megan Calder (Victor, N.Y./Victor) earned her trip to the championships following a top-10 finish at the NJCAA Region III Championships at FLCC. On the men's side, freshman Zachary Lester (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) earned his trip by way of the same race, finishing in the top 20.

The men's race at the championships would kick off first and Lakers freshman Zachary Lester would put together one of his strongest performances of the year in his final race this season, clocking in with a time of 33:45.10. Following the men's race, freshman Megan Calder shined in her debut at the national championships, falling just short of her PR this season with a time of 23:15.49.

With the finish, the Lakers wrap up their 2023 campaign and will look ahead to a promising 2024 squad that will include Lester and Calder, along with an infusion of new talent. The duo will have their eyes set on a stronger showing in the NJCAA Region III Championships to set the stage for another national championship appearance.
