Softball Falls to Jefferson CC.

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. — The Finger Lakes Community College softball team hosted its second straight doubleheader to open the 2021 season, and the Lakers were swept by Jefferson Community College Thursday afternoon.

The Lakers (1-3) dropped the opener 8-0 in six innings before falling in the nightcap by a score of 5-1.

Sophomore Malori Waag (Cheery Creek, NY/Pine Valley) had a pair of singles in game one, while freshman Clare Kingsfield (Forestville, NY/Forestville) drove in a run on a sacrifice fly in game two.

FLCC was outhit 7-6 in the second game. Sophomores Mia Bresadola (Camillus, NY/West Genesee), Katie Harmon (Churchville, NY/Caledonia Mumford), Trinity Maestre (Phelps, NY/Midlakes) and Karena Ward (Weedsport, NY/Weedsport) each had singles in game two, as did freshmen Reagan Seelye (Elmira Heights, NY/Thomas A. Edison) and Kalyska Payne (Savona, NY/Campbell Savona).

Seelye and Payne combined to toss a seven-hitter for the Lakers.

The Lakers have a home and home series with Corning Community College this weekend. FLCC travels to Corning for a doubleheader starting at noon on Saturday before hosting Corning for a doubleheader at noon on Sunday.
