Softball Falls to Herkimer College

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. — The Finger Lakes Community College softball welcomed Herkimer College to campus Tuesday afternoon, and the Lakers dropped a pair of games to the Generals.

FLCC (1-7) lost the opener in six innings by a 10-1 score before being blanked 13-0 in five innings in game two vs. the Generals (4-0).

Sophomore Karena Ward (Weedsport, NY/Weedsport) was 2-for-3 with a run scored and a stolen base, and freshman Megan Lee (Waverly, NY/Waverly) hit an RBI single and stole a base in the opener for the Lakers. Lee's fourth inning single pulled FLCC within 4-1, but the Generals scored three times in both the fifth and sixth innings to pull away.

In the second game, Ward and sophomore Hannah Capacci (Seneca Falls, NY/Mynderse Academy) recorded singles for FLCC, which trailed 2-0 heading into the fourth inning before Herkimer scored 11 times to clinch the sweep.

The Lakers embark on a home and home series with Monroe Community College, hosting the Tribunes in a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m. Friday before traveling to Monroe for a doubleheader starting at noon on Saturday.
