CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. — The Finger Lakes Community College softball team hosted Jamestown Community College for a doubleheader Tuesday afternoon, with the Lakers earning a split at FLCC's turf complex.

Five different student-athletes drove in at least two runs and FLCC struck for seven runs in the first inning en route to a 13-7 win in game one. In the nightcap, the Lakers (7-19) were held to two hits and suffered a 16-4 loss in five innings to the Jayhawks (2-10).

Game One

Sophomore Karena Ward (Weedsport, NY/Weedsport) and freshman Clare Kingsfield (Forestville, NY/Forestville) each had RBI singles and sophomore Alyn Watts (Naples, NY/Marcus Whitman) delivered a two-run single into right field, and classmate Hannah Capacci (Seneca Falls, NY/Mynderse Academy) added a two-run double down the left field line as the Lakers took a 7-0 lead into the second inning.

The Laker lead was trimmed to 7-5 heading into the bottom of the fifth, but Watts tripled to center field to score Kingsfield, and freshman Lilian Chrysler (Middlesex, NY/Marcus Whitman) stole home to extend the lead to 9-5.

FLCC would tack on four runs in the bottom of the sixth, highlighted by freshman Deanna Palmer's (Auburn, NY/Auburn) RBI triple and an RBI double from Kingsfield.

Kingsfield went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBI, and Watts was 2-for-4 with three RBI and a stolen base in the opener. Capacci, Palmer, and Ward each drove in two, while sophomore Malori Waag (Cherry Creek, NY/Pine Valley) was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and a stolen base for FLCC, which set a season-best for runs scored.

Game Two

Palmer singled and had an RBI, Capacci was 1-for-2 with two runs scored and two stolen bases, and sophomore Ava Breuer (Fillmore, NY/Fillmore) added an RBI in the loss.
