Softball Drops Two at Mohawk Valley CC

UTICA, N.Y. — The Finger Lakes Community College softball team suffered a sweep at the hands of Mohawk Valley Community College during Sunday's doubleheader.

FLCC (7-23) lost by scores of 13-6 and 14-0 (in five innings) vs. the Hawks (13-5).

Game One

Sophomore Ava Breuer (Fillmore, NY/Fillmore) went 3-for-4 with a double, three RBI and a run scored, and classmate Hannah Capacci (Seneca Falls, NY/Mynderse Academy) doubled twice and drove in two runs for the Lakers.

Freshmen Lilian Chrysler (Middlesex, NY/Marcus Whitman) added a single, and classmate Deanna Palmer (Auburn, NY/Auburn) and scored twice and drove in a run for FLCC, which trailed 7-1 and 12-3 before scoring six runs combined in the fourth and fifth innings.

Game Two

The Lakers were no-hit by the Hawks in the nightcap. Freshman Kalyska Payne (Savona, NY/Campbell-Savona) started and allowed three unearned runs on three hits with two strikeouts over 2 1/3 innings.

The Lakers travel to play Jamestown Community College for a doubleheader Tuesday. First pitch is slated for 11:30 a.m.
