Lakers Drop DH Matchup at Home

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. – The Finger Lakes Community College softball team competed in a National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), Region III matchup with the Genesee Community College Cougars Tuesday night. The Lakers would compete under the lights against their Region III opponent in the Cougars.

Game 1

In back-and-forth 1st inning, the Cougars would tag on two quick runs in the top of the inning, before Deanna Palmer (Auburn, N.Y./ Auburn) would hit a 2 RBI triple to right field to bring home teammates Reagan Seelye (Elmira Heights, N.Y./ Thomas A. Edison) and Peyton Cory (Mexico, N.Y./ Mexico).

Seelye would earn the start on the mound, pitching a full 7 innings and recording 7 strikeouts in the appearance. Cory would also record a stolen base to put herself in scoring position on Palmer's triple.

However, the Lakers would struggle to put runs up on the board, with the Cougars tagging on 2 runs apiece in the 4th and 6th innings to come away with a 6-2 victory. The Lakers would enter game 2 looking to even the doubleheader under-the-lights series.

Game 2

The Lakers would fall to the Cougars in a 9-1, 6 inning finish in game 2. The Lakers return to play this coming weekend on the road against the Spartans of Cayuga Community College in a 12 PM/2:30 PM doubleheader.
