Softball Drops Two to #5 Corning

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Community College softball team opened their season series with Corning Community College on Tuesday, April 9th at the FLCC Softball Turf Facility. The Lakers, who dropped all four matchups with the Red Barons last season, would fall in their doubleheader at home against Corning.

The Red Barons would start hot in game one, pouring in five runs in the top of the first inning, before both teams would hold a deadlock in innings two and three before Corning added to their lead in the fourth with six runs. The Red Barons would add to their lead in the fifth to earn the 14-0 victory in game one.

In game two, the Lakers flipped the switch to jump out to a 2-0 lead over the #5 ranked Red Barons. However, a five-run second inning for Corning gave them the lead which they would carry to the finale as the Red Barons would take game two, 12-4.

Up next is a home doubleheader against Region III foe Mohawk Valley Community College on Thursday, April 11th at 3 PM & 5 PM.
