CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Community College softball team welcomed SUNY Adirondack to the turf for a doubleheader on Saturday, April 13th. The Lakers would drop the first game in a tight score of 13-10, but picked up a win in the second, marking their first victory of the season.

In game one, Aubrey Roberts (Cobleskill, N.Y./Cobleskill Richmondville) put her offensive prowess on display, delivering a hit on each of her 4 plate appearances. Power-hitter Joelle Jay (Macedon, N.Y./Victor) was another key piece of the puzzle, adding 3 runs and 1 triple to the stat sheet. Sophomore Kelsey Payne (Waterloo, N.Y./Waterloo) made her name heard, bringing in 3 runs while also being walked 4 times.

In game two, the Lakers turned the tide. Joelle Jay rode on the success of the previous matchup, delivering in both departments yet again. Jay would go a perfect 3-for-3, knocking in 2 triples and 2 RBIs. Alongside Jay was Natalie Lecceardone (Manchester, N.Y. / Red Jacket), who posted a strong outing in her 2 at-bats. Lecceardone would finish the day with 2 hits and a team-high 4 RBIs. Aubrey Roberts served as the team's primary pitcher in this game but also took authority at the plate. Roberts struck leather on a triple and drove in 1 run and 2 RBIs. Freshman Ava Recktenwald (Lima, N.Y. / Honeoye Falls-Lima) improved on her outing from the previous match, bringing in 1 run and 1 RBI – while also being walked once.
