Lakers Drop Game to Erie Despite Strong Start

BUFFALO, N.Y. - In a single game Monday evening at Erie Community College, the Lakers would fall by a score of 14-3 to the host Kats. Despite a strong start by the Lakers who jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning, the Kats would rally to hold the team scoreless for the remainder of the game, before erupting for 8 runs in the bottom of the fifth to finish the game via the mercy rule.

Sophomore Joelle Jay (Macedon, N.Y./Victor) excelled at the plate, producing all of the team's hits, including a double, and contributing an RBI. Jay put her speed on display with efficient baserunning, swiping a base. Sophomore Aubrey Roberts (Cobleskill, N.Y./Cobleskill-Richmondville) contributed an RBI in the game with some clutch hitting despite the limited opportunities for the team. Teammates Kelsey Payne (Waterloo, N.Y./Waterloo) and Cassidy Loveless (Marion, N.Y./Marion) reached showed patience at the plate, drawing a walk and scoring a run.

The Lakers will look to get back in the win column today at SUNY Broome for a 4 & 6 PM doubleheader in Binghamton, N.Y.
