Women's Basketball Gets First Home Win

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. – The Finger Lakes Community College Women's Basketball team earned their first win at home on Saturday against the Clinton Community College Cougars. The Lakers won 85-40.

 

The scoring started off with Becca Reeves sinking a three-pointer early in the first quarter. This would help push the Lakers to 17-7 lead at the end of the first quarter.

 

The Lakers kept their lead, scoring 21 more points to even further their lead against the cougars. They ended the half with a score of 38-18.

 

The Cougars scored the most points they would score in the third quarter, scoring 14. The Lakers also scored their quarter high of 25.

 

The Lakers came back with stellar defense, holding the Cougars to only eight points in the final quarter of the game. The Lakers came out the winners with an 85-40 score.

 

The Lakers shot 37-93 in the field, making their field goal percentage 39.8%. The Cougars went 16-51 in the field, making their field goal percentage 31.4%.

 

Game leaders for the Lakers were Jamonie Cole with 32 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists, and Sarah Lacey with 30 points, 12 rebounds, four steals, and four blocks.

 

The Lakers played again on Sunday against the North Country Community College Saints.
